The Greening of our big Grey House
To start greening
-up a house with empty walls is a daunting process but after
many years of work it's starting to bring results. The original
[now almost 100 years old] house had empty cavities in the walls
with no insulation at all and those drafty old windows and doors
didn't help either. The house now boasts an airtight warm frame
with high insulation walls, windows and doors.
We now have
an efficient house but it doesn't end there. Recycling and composting
cut down our garbage output by 90%. Our guest hospitality room
has its' own blue box and while guests aren't required to use
it, most happily do.
